Yenrav's
Karma is the brain child of Will Varney (a.k.a. Yenrav). Yenrav, who worked as an audio tech and did shows with Paul McCartney,
Ringo Starr, The Rolling Stones, Cheap Trick and countless other acts, started out his musical journey by playing all
the standard rock clubs, performing "cover" material until he joined up with Rough Cut and later 153RD and started
focusing on his original songs. Still, to play in certain clubs, you had to perform at least three cover tunes to every one
original and the more Yenrav got into writing his own songs, the more tedious it became to play "clone muzak for
the masses." Having finally had enough of being a "jukebox with a pulse," Yenrav decided to leave the
circus and to cut his own path because after all, It was a waste of good hair and future to do otherwise. Intently dedicating
himself to using his writing and recording talents to produce multiple CDs of original music, Yenrav hit the road doing
some coffee house, museum, bookstore, showcase and benefit shows because he found those particular venues to
be more open minded and receptive to artists playing their own material. College radio started picking up on
his vibe and began playing his music over the airwaves and luckily, the road to future creativity began to reveal itself
ever more clearly. Yenrav thanked his lucky stars that his percerverance in being true to one's self had actually been the
right decision, or at least that's what the voices in his head told him! So, with his trusted 12-string guitar frimly
in hand and a voice that could be heard above and beyond any mundane din, Yenrav realized the stuff of which dreams
are made and happily, Yenrav's Karma began selling enough CDs to help finance further recording projects, the formation
of his companies, and a meal or two.
The
"band" is really just Yenrav, although he does bring other musicians onto stage and into the studio and has worked with a
lot of talented people. Yenrav's Karma was pleased to have Mike Gibbins (former drummer of Badfinger) over in the studio
laying the drum tracks to the song Turn To The Window, which will be released soon on CD or download. Mike, who sadly passed
away last October was absolutely one of the greatest and an honor to work with.
So
far, Yenrav's Karma has released 4 CDs, 1 Music Video, and had a song called Mr. L's Ordeal, about the death of John Lennon,
released on a Wallflower Records Florida Artists Compilation CD. Will Varney has also been a Writer/Publisher member of ASCAP
since 1993.
Yenrav is focused
on the operation of his independent record label FLAT-TOP RECORDS, his recording facility ZEN AUDIO RECORDING STUDIO and
his own publishing company aptly
named KARMATUNES
LTD.
